Somalia’s Minister of Defence, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, held a farewell meeting with Colonel Ed Norris, the outgoing commander of the U.S. Joint Special Operations Task Force – East Africa (JSOTF-EA), on Tuesday.
Minister Fiqi thanked Norris for his strong support and cooperation, especially in training and deploying specialized Somali National Army units.
He praised the partnership for enhancing Somalia’s counter-terrorism efforts and professionalizing its forces.
The U.S. continues to be a vital security ally in Somalia’s fight against al-Shabaab and in military development.
