The Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), today laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of Bartamaha School in Mogadishu, one of the city’s historic educational institutions.
Built during the colonial era, before Somalia gained independence, the school has long been one of the important educational institutions serving the people of Mogadishu. In recent years, the existing building has deteriorated and fallen into disrepair, prompting plans for its reconstruction.
Muungaab said the project aims to improve the condition of the building and provide a safe learning environment with better facilities.

The Mayor of Mogadishu also addressed previous reports circulating among the public claiming that the land belonging to Bartamaha School had been sold.
“It is regrettable that baseless reports are being spread about the sale of Bartamaha School’s land. Public property must be discussed based on facts and official evidence,” Muungaab said.
He stated that the school’s reconstruction is part of broader efforts to improve educational infrastructure, noting that the Federal Government of Somalia considers the development of educational institutions a priority.
The project is expected to transform the condition of Bartamaha School, with the aim of providing students and teachers with a better learning environment than before.
The foundation-laying ceremony was attended by the Director General of Education for Banadir Region, Abdirahman Ali Mohamed, the Commissioner of Shangaani District, and other officials.
