Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received the British Ambassador to Somalia, Charles King, at the Presidential Palace, where they discussed security and the country’s political situation.
During the meeting, President Hassan Sheikh briefed Ambassador Charles King on the agenda and issues discussed, while also hearing about the British government’s role in supporting these efforts.
The United Kingdom is among the countries supporting Somalia. The government in London has been assisting its counterpart in Mogadishu with security efforts and support for other government institutions, according to previous statements from both sides.
The UK is also among the major financial contributors supporting the African-led AUSSOM mission in Somalia, whose forces are currently facing financial challenges.
