The Somali National Armed Forces, working with international partners, carried out a planned airstrike on 21 July targeting an Al-Shabaab hideout in the Suullaay area of Hiiraan region.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the operation killed 18 militants, seriously injured 21 others, and destroyed a technical vehicle, defensive positions, and fortifications used by the group.
The Ministry praised the Somali military and thanked its international partners for their support, reaffirming its commitment to intensifying operations against Al-Shabaab while prioritizing civilian protection and national security.
The strike is part of a broader campaign targeting the group’s leadership, hideouts, and operational capabilities across Somalia.
