The National Civil Service Commission has implemented a resolution issued by the Somali Parliament by suspending the recruitment process for the advertised positions of Directors of Human Resources Departments in government ministries and agencies.
In a statement issued by the Commission, it said that the recruitment process for these positions had been suspended after the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia voted against the Commission’s action, which it said was contrary to the country’s Constitution.
The Commission added that it would regularly provide reports to the House of the People, particularly regarding the implementation of the resolution and the steps being taken to carry it out, as stated in the document issued by the Commission.
On September 23, the House of the People voted to reject the resolution concerning the Civil Service Commission’s announcement seeking candidates for director and administrative positions in government ministries and agencies.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Auditor General warned the Civil Service Commission against taking actions that could interfere with the office’s independence, powers, and legal framework. It also recommended that the office’s work be based on the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Somalia and other relevant laws.
