Eritrea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it would sever all diplomatic relations with Ethiopia, effective 1 October 2026.
The announcement followed Ethiopia’s closure of its embassy in #Asmara and its order for ten Eritrean diplomats to leave the country within 48 hours.
Ethiopia also declared the diplomats persona non grata. Rejecting AddisAbaba’s national security allegations, Asmara said it had “no option but to reciprocate in kind.”
