Former MP Abdifatah Ismael discussed why officials from the Isaaq clan serve in Somalia’s Federal Government and what they seek to achieve in Mogadishu.
“We are in Mogadishu to support Abdirahman Irro’s administration specifically, Somaliland’s goal of separating from Somalia,” he said emphatically.
Cabdulfataax has long been associated with the Somali Future Council (SFC), a group opposed to the government led by President
HassanSMohamud
.
He also described officials from other parts of Somalia as uninformed and incapable of accomplishing anything.
His remarks raise questions about whether Dr Abdifatah has joined former associates who once supported Somali unity but later aligned themselves with the Somaliland separatist movement led by Irro.
What is your view of the former MP’s statement? Does it accurately reflect the views of Isaaq clan members who currently represent Somaliland within Somalia’s Federal Government.
