Families of 10 Pakistani sailors held by Somali pirates aboard the tanker MT Honour 25 said Sunday they had lost contact with the crew and did not know where they were being held.
Their fears grew after a military operation freed sailors from another hijacked vessel.
Pirates seized the Palau-flagged tanker off Somalia’s Puntland region on April 21. Its 17 crew members, including 10 Pakistanis, have been held for over five months.
Messages received by a Pakistani rights group involved in the case say pirates threatened to kill the hostages if security forces tried to retake the vessel.
Mahwish Yasir, whose husband Yasir Khan is among the captives, said families had been unable to contact the crew since the latest developments.
